Thank you, Jennifer, for all of your work on this blog....
Don't see Cedar Rapids on the info sessions. My question is programming. Right now on Saturday nights the analog 12 in CR shows the British sitcoms. Neither 12.1 or 12.2 shows them, rather they both have other programming. So my question is what will happen to the British sitcoms after Feb 2009. Will they disappear or replace programming currently on the DTV channels in the same time slot?
Hi Jim. Our sessions are continually growing, and Cedar Rapids should be finalized shortly. Keep checking back.
I'll get back to you on programming soon. We recognize British comedies are so important to our audience, and want to do what we can to allow you to continue seeing them after 2/17/09.
When the switch to digital takes place will the signal be broadcast in 1080p or 720p?
I just realized that you have digital broadcasts when I visited your website, saw that History Detectives was on at 1:00pm and couldn't find it on my analog set. If I want to see digital programs, must I purchase a digital set or wait until the conversion box becomes available?
I am pretty sure that all over the air Hi Dev broadcasting is done at 1080i.
More information about the May 28 presentation at Carnegie-Stout Public Library in Dubuque is available at this web page:

Not all high definition broadcasting is done in "1080i." The are two high definition formats, the other is called "720p." Fox and ABC both use the 720p format while NBC, CBS and PBS use the 1080i format. Although there are advantages and disadvantages to both formats, these differences are pretty minor and the majority of viewers can't really tell the difference.

I enjoy your digital broadcasts, but have noticed a great deal of breakup in the signal recently. At first I thought it might be weather related, but now it seems to happen even on clear days. Since I'm not having the problem to the same degree on the commercial digital broadcasts, I assume it's not on my end. I see it on my new digital set and the set with a converter box. The analog signal remains as good as ever. Do you epect any improvement in the signal reliability by 02-09?
Hi Terry,
It is difficult to answer the question since I am not sure which IPTV station you are watching or which community you live in. If you can tell me what station you are looking at and what community you live in, I can try and help you out.

Bill,
I live in Indianola and watch channel 11, 11-1, 11-2 and 11-3. By the way, I attended your info session here in Indianola. You did a great job. Thanks for all your efforts to educate and inform us.
Bill,
I live in Indianola and watch channel ll, 11-1, 11-2, 11-3.
Thanks.
Does the seminars cover only Iowa Public Television concerns or does it also cover the other broadcast services.
Where will the seminar in Mt. Pleasant be held?
Does one need to sign up in advance?
We discuss issues related to digital television in general, not just Iowa Public Television issues. No sign up necessary - just feel free to stop by! Unless otherwise noted, sessions are at the local library. We hope to see you at the Mount Pleasant Public Library!
Hi Terry,
Thank you for watching.
Bill
I see no location is given for the Aug 5 session in Mount Pleasant. I am interested in going. Will there be publicity about this event in the local media? I talked to someone who attended the session in Ft. Madison Tuesday and said only 10 showed up. They said it was a shame because it was very interesting and was worth their time attending. They thought the only advertising of that event was on IPTV, nothing on radio or local newspaper.
The location will be in the Civic Center meeting room. We send information to the local media regarding each session, and the turnout varies depending on the community. We're pleased to give this presentation to crowds of any size. We'll continue to work to get the word out in local communities. Hope to see you in Mt. Pleasant. Thanks!
Hi Terry,
Thank you for the feedback on the session. I have really been enjoying doing them and helping people see that this conversion really isn't all that difficult.
Bill
I attended the session in Mount Pleasant and wanted to thank Stan and Mary for making the long drive to our community to answer questions and hear our concerns about the marginal DTV reception that many experience around here. For those reading this I should say that IPTV is better than any of the commercial stations in providing a good signal to the vast majority of viewers here due to the translators filling in the "holes" that the full power transmitters can't. I get the impression that the IPTV staff is willing to help everyone make this transition as smooth as possible. Thanks again!!!
